A calibration procedure for the assessment of work hardening part I: Effects of the microstructure and load type

This paper presents a methodology to define and quantify the level of work hardening locally in material. The is proposed after thorough experimental study based on three complementary techniques for microstructural characterizations: microhardness, X-ray diffraction (XRD) Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) applied Inconel 718 samples. In our analysis, several loading histories including single tension, compression, high strain rates low cycle fatigue have been investigated. effects microstructure further investigated by modifying size grains strengthening precipitates. Experimental tests also simulated choose model variable able represent hardening. A reciprocal link between characterizations has then established. Correlation curves that enable from knowledge data. Accuracy complementarity approaches are discussed as well impact material measured quantities.
